ARDEX D 20 Ready Mixed Wall Tile Adhesive
ARDEX D 20 is an easy-to-apply, ready-mixed wall tile adhesive with excellent slump-resistant properties.
USE
ARDEX D 20 is designed for fixing ceramic tiles and mosaics to various surfaces, including gypsum plaster, paper-faced plasterboards, concrete, cement and sand renders, stable cement-based sheets and boards, as well as other absorbent backgrounds. It can also be used to fix porous tiles onto existing ceramic tiling. It is suitable for dry internal areas, including domestic showers and bathrooms, on appropriate backgrounds where there is adequate time for the tiles to dry between uses.
PREPARATION
Ensure the substrate is sound, sufficiently mature, dry, and free of dust, dirt, oil, grease, or any other contaminants that could affect adhesion. Use a suitable degreaser to remove oil, wax, grease, and similar substances. Paint coatings, whitewash, and other friable materials must be removed before application.
APPLICATION
Apply ARDEX D 20 adhesive to the wall with a trowel, pressing the adhesive into the surface. Spread it evenly to create a uniform layer on the area to be tiled, then comb it with a notched trowel to form straight ribs. This creates an adhesive bed into which the ceramic tiles are set. For larger porcelain tiles (greater than 150mm x 150mm) or tiles with porous backs (greater than 300mm x 300mm), use the appropriate ARDEX cement-based adhesive.
GROUTING
Allow the ARDEX D 20 to set for a minimum of 24 hours before grouting. It is recommended to use an appropriate ARDEX-FLEX cement-based grout for general tiling. If tiling on impervious or non-porous backgrounds, wait up to 3 days before grouting. Movement joints should be installed as specified in BS 5385-1:
- Over existing and/or structural movement joints
- Where tiling meets other materials
- Where tiling spans different background materials
- In large tiled areas, at internal vertical corners, and at 3m to 4.5m centers, both horizontally and vertically
- In areas where stress concentration is likely, such as at changes in alignment
COVERAGE
Approximately 1 liter per m² using a 3mm x 3mm toothed and notched trowel.
PACKAGING
ARDEX D 20 is available in plastic tubs with a net volume of 10 liters.
STORAGE AND SHELF LIFE
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and freezing conditions. ARDEX D 20 has a shelf life of at least 12 months when stored in its original, unopened containers.

30-day return window
Returns accepted within 30 days of delivery. You also have a statutory 14-day cancellation right from the date of receipt.
Items must be unused & in original packaging
Returned goods must be uninstalled, unaltered and in the same condition as received.
Installed or cut items cannot be returned
Once tiles or materials have been cut, altered or installed, no return or refund is possible under any circumstances.
How to start a return
Contact us first at info@tileexperience.co.uk or call 0208 689 4187. Send the item back with your name and order number. Return shipping is the customer's responsibility.
Refund to original payment method
Processed within 3–5 working days of us receiving and approving your return.
Original delivery charges are not refunded. If no refund after 15 business days, contact us.
Damaged or incorrect items
Report within 48 hours of receipt. Email info@tileexperience.co.uk with your order number and photos of the damage. Confirmed replacements are sent next working day at no charge.
Non-stocked brands — restocking fee may apply
Returns for Genesis, Marmox and Bihui carry up to a 20% restocking fee. Schluter trims: 35% standard return, 15% if returning with a replacement order.
Cancellations
Cancel before dispatch for a full refund including delivery. Cancel after dispatch by rejecting the delivery — refund for goods only, not the delivery charge.
