ARDEX R 1 is a high-performance, rapid-drying, brilliant white renovation plaster designed for smoothing and plastering walls and ceilings in dry internal areas. Perfect for renovation projects, it can be applied directly onto challenging surfaces such as Artex, paint, wallpaper, ceramic tiles, and brickwork—without priming. Its innovative formula ensures tension-free, crack-free results, and allows decorative finishes in as little as 24 hours.

Where to Use
ARDEX R 1 is suitable for smoothing and plastering walls and ceilings in dry internal areas prior to applying paints, wallpapers, or dispersion-based renders. It adheres directly to:
- Concrete and brickwork
- Cement and lime renders
- Plaster and plasterboards
- Mineral decorative renders (e.g. Artex)
- Ceramic tiles
- Sound wallpapers (including fibre-reinforced)
- Washable and old latex paints
- Acrylic paints and sound tile adhesive
Mixing Instructions
- Gradually add 2 parts powder to 1 part clean water (approx. 12.5 L of water per 25 kg bag).
- Mix thoroughly using a mechanical paddle mixer until a lump-free, creamy consistency is achieved.
- Allow to stand for 2–3 minutes, then remix before application.
- Working time: approx. 30 minutes.
Application Guide
Apply ARDEX R 1 with a trowel, blade, or filling knife. For best results, use a two-coat process:
- Fill holes gradually from the edges to avoid air bubbles.
- Remove imperfections with a damp sponge before drying to minimise sanding.
- Can be trowelled or sanded smooth once hardened.
- Apply at temperatures above 5 °C.
Drying and Thickness
- Apply up to 50 mm thick in one coat.
- Dries in 6–8 hours on absorbent surfaces and 24 hours on dense, non-absorbent surfaces.
- Ready for paint, wallpaper, or other finishes once fully dry.

Returns accepted within 30 days of delivery. You also have a statutory 14-day cancellation right from the date of receipt.
Items must be unused & in original packaging
Returned goods must be uninstalled, unaltered and in the same condition as received.
Installed or cut items cannot be returned
Once tiles or materials have been cut, altered or installed, no return or refund is possible under any circumstances.
How to start a return
Contact us first at info@tileexperience.co.uk or call 0208 689 4187. Send the item back with your name and order number. Return shipping is the customer's responsibility.
Refund to original payment method
Processed within 3–5 working days of us receiving and approving your return.
Original delivery charges are not refunded. If no refund after 15 business days, contact us.
Damaged or incorrect items
Report within 48 hours of receipt. Email info@tileexperience.co.uk with your order number and photos of the damage. Confirmed replacements are sent next working day at no charge.
Non-stocked brands — restocking fee may apply
Returns for Genesis, Marmox and Bihui carry up to a 20% restocking fee. Schluter trims: 35% standard return, 15% if returning with a replacement order.
Cancellations
Cancel before dispatch for a full refund including delivery. Cancel after dispatch by rejecting the delivery — refund for goods only, not the delivery charge.
