Kerakoll Metric R2 Fix – High-Ductility Fibre-Reinforced Repair Mortar
Kerakoll Metric R2 Fix is a high-performance, fibre-reinforced, thixotropic mortar designed for non-structural repairs and restoration of concrete and masonry surfaces. Formulated to meet the requirements of class R2 according to EN 1504-3, it provides excellent adhesion, durability, and ease of application for a wide range of repair works.
Key Benefits
Discover the main advantages of using Metric R2 Fix in professional repair applications:
- High Thixotropy: Easy to apply vertically or overhead without sagging or slump.
- Fibre-Reinforced: Enhanced ductility and crack resistance.
- Single-Coat Application: Can be applied in thicknesses ranging from 2 mm to 40 mm in one layer.
- Versatile Repair Solution: Suitable for repairing deteriorated concrete, brick, and stone in both civil and residential projects.
- Manual or Machine Application: Apply with a trowel or mortar spray pump for efficiency on large areas.
Ideal Uses
Metric R2 Fix is perfect for a variety of non-structural repair and restoration projects, including:
- Localised and widespread non-structural concrete repairs
- Restoration of brick, stone, and concrete architectural elements
- Crack-prevention interventions on vertical and horizontal substrates
- Base coat for embedded fibre reinforcement meshes in strengthening systems
Application Instructions
Surface Preparation
Proper substrate preparation is critical for adhesion and long-term durability:
- Mechanically roughen and clean the surface (scarification, sandblasting, or hydro-demolition, 1–2 mm depth).
- Remove dust and debris with compressed air or high-pressure water.
- Pre-wet substrate until damp but without standing water.
- For masonry, ensure the surface is clean and pre-wetted.
- Use welded or reinforcement mesh on large repairs or thick layers.
Mixing
Follow correct mixing ratios for best performance:
- Mix the entire 25 kg bag with the specified water quantity (see packaging).
- Use a low-speed mixer, mortar mixer, or continuous mixing pump.
Application Method
Metric R2 Fix can be applied manually or mechanically depending on project size:
- Apply manually with a trowel or mechanically with a mortar spraying machine.
- For multi-layer applications, allow each layer to harden before applying the next.
- For mesh-reinforced systems, embed Geo Grid 120, Geosteel Grid, or Rinforzo ARV 100 into the first coat. Press firmly, then cover with a second layer.
- Finish with a sponge float when surface reaches the correct consistency.
Curing
Curing ensures durability and performance:
- Protect from direct sunlight and strong wind during curing.
- Allow at least 24 hours curing before exposure or further works.
Cleaning & Maintenance
Cleaning tools immediately prevents product hardening:
- Clean tools and machinery with water immediately after use.
