Kerakoll Metric R2 Fix – High-Ductility Fibre-Reinforced Repair Mortar

Metric R2 Fix is a high-performance, fibre-reinforced, thixotropic mortar designed for non-structural repairs and restoration of concrete and masonry surfaces. Formulated to meet the requirements of class R2 according to EN 1504-3, it provides excellent adhesion, durability, and ease of application for a wide range of repair works.

Application Instructions

Surface Preparation:

• Mechanically roughen and clean the concrete surface using scarification, sandblasting, or hydro-demolition to remove degraded material (1–2 mm depth).
• Clean thoroughly with compressed air or high-pressure water to remove dust and debris.
• Saturate the substrate with water until it is damp but with no standing water.
• For masonry, ensure the surface is clean and pre-wetted.
• Use reinforcement mesh (e.g. welded mesh) on large repairs or thick layers for added stability.

Mixing:

• Mix the entire bag of Metric R2 Fix with the specified water amount (refer to packaging).
• Use a low-speed mixer, mortar mixer, or a continuous mixing pump for consistent results.

Application Method:

• Apply manually with a trowel or mechanically using a mortar spraying machine.
• For multi-layer applications, allow each layer to harden before applying the next.
• In mesh-reinforced systems, embed Geo Grid 120, Geosteel Grid, or Rinforzo ARV 100 within the first coat and press with a flat trowel to remove air and ensure full contact. Cover with a second layer to encapsulate the mesh completely.
• Smooth and finish using a sponge float when the surface reaches the right consistency.

Curing:

• Protect from direct sunlight and strong wind during curing.
• Allow the surface to cure for at least 24 hours after application.

Cleaning & Maintenance:

• Clean tools and machinery with water immediately after use and before the mortar hardens.

Important Notes:

• For professional use only
• Use between +5 °C and +35 °C
• Do not add external binders or additives
• Do not apply on dirty, friable, or non-mineral surfaces such as gypsum, wood, or metal
• Store in a dry place away from humidity and direct sunlight
