Mapeband Easy Waterproofing Joint Tape
High-elasticity, alkali-resistant rubber tape for seamless waterproofing joints.
Mapeband Easy is a flexible, elastic waterproofing tape designed to seal and reinforce junctions, corners and movement areas within wet-room and waterproofing systems. It features an elastic rubber core with non-woven fabric faces to help it bond securely into compatible waterproofing coatings while accommodating movement.
Key benefits
- Helps create watertight seals at wall–floor junctions, internal corners and changes of plane
- Elastic centre section accommodates movement at critical joints
- Fabric faces improve bonding into compatible liquid or cementitious waterproofing coats
- Perforated edges support quick wetting and easier embedment during application
- Suitable for bathrooms, showers, wet rooms, balconies and terraces (as part of a system)
- Available as rolls and system accessories (preformed corners and penetration pieces)
Where to use
Use Mapeband Easy to reinforce and seal joints before tiling, especially where movement or water exposure is expected:
- Internal corners (wall to wall)
- Wall to floor junctions
- Changes of plane and transitions between substrates
- Balconies/terraces and other exposed junctions (system dependent)
- Pipe penetrations and fittings (use compatible accessories where required)
- Movement/control joints within waterproofing zones

Important:
Mapeband Easy is designed to be embedded into a compatible waterproofing coat as part of a complete waterproofing system. It is not a standalone waterproof membrane.
Installation overview
- 1 Ensure the substrate is sound, clean, dry and free from dust, oils, sealers and loose material.
- 2 Apply the first coat of your compatible waterproofing product along the junction, corner or joint.
- 3 Embed Mapeband Easy into the wet coat. Press firmly to remove air pockets and ensure full contact.
- 4 Overlap joins (typical best practice is at least 50 mm) and seal overlaps within the same waterproofing coat.
- 5 Apply a second coat of waterproofing over the tape to fully encapsulate the fabric edges. Allow to cure as specified before tiling.
Pro tip
Use preformed corners and penetration pieces where possible for quicker installation and consistent detailing in high-risk areas.
FAQs
What is Mapeband Easy used for? ⌄
It is used to seal and reinforce corners, junctions and movement areas within waterproofing systems—helping reduce the risk of leaks before tiling in wet areas such as showers, bathrooms and wet rooms.
Can Mapeband Easy be used on balconies and terraces? ⌄
Yes, it is commonly used to detail junctions and movement-prone areas on balconies and terraces, provided it is installed as part of a compatible waterproofing system suitable for external use.
Is Mapeband Easy a waterproof membrane on its own? ⌄
No. It is a joint and corner reinforcement tape that must be embedded into a compatible waterproofing coating or system to form a watertight detail.
How do I join two lengths of tape? ⌄
Overlap the tape ends (typical best practice is at least 50 mm) and fully bed the overlap into the waterproofing coat, ensuring there are no voids, wrinkles or trapped air.
When can I tile after installing the tape? ⌄
Once the waterproofing coats used with the tape have cured in line with the system guidance. Drying times vary depending on product type, temperature, humidity and coat thickness.
What areas should I always reinforce with joint tape? ⌄
Focus on internal corners, wall–floor junctions, changes of plane, movement/control joints, and around penetrations such as pipes and fittings—these are the highest-risk areas for water ingress.
For best results, use Mapeband Easy with a compatible waterproofing system and follow site conditions and detailing requirements (especially in wet rooms and external areas).
