Product Description
- Forms a waterproof surface membrane that helps prevent residual construction moisture from affecting adhesives, smoothing compounds and finished floor coverings.
- Suppresses residual moisture levels of up to 4.5 CM-% or 95% relative humidity on suitable moisture-resistant cement-based substrates.
- Supplied as a one-component liquid that is ready to use directly from the container, with no on-site mixing required.
- Rapid-drying formulation helps reduce waiting times and allows flooring installation work to proceed sooner.
- Green pigmentation makes treated areas easy to identify and helps the installer achieve even and complete coverage.
- Applied using a roller in at least two coats, with the second coat applied at right angles to the first.
- Produces a continuous, pinhole-free membrane when applied at the recommended coverage rate.
- Suitable for use before compatible levelling compounds, smoothing compounds, flooring adhesives and bonded floor coverings.
- No sand broadcasting or separate primer is normally required before applying a compatible levelling compound.
- Offers low consumption and high coverage for efficient application across domestic and commercial flooring projects.
- Unused material can be resealed and stored according to the manufacturer’s instructions, helping to reduce product waste.
- Provides excellent resistance to humidity and good temperature resistance once fully dried.
Key Benefits
- Suppresses residual construction moisture up to 95% RH.
- Helps prevent moisture-related flooring failures.
- One-component product with no mixing required.
- Ready to use directly from the container.
- Rapid drying for faster flooring installation.
- Easy and efficient roller application.
- Green colour helps ensure complete coverage.
- Low consumption with approximately 3 m² coverage per kg.
- No sand broadcasting normally required before levelling.
- Very low VOC emissions with EMICODE EC1 Plus classification.
- Resealable container helps minimise unused-product waste.
Where to Use
- Internal cement-based screeds containing residual moisture.
- Suitable sound and absorbent concrete floor substrates.
- Domestic and commercial floor-preparation projects.
- Fast-track flooring installations where waiting time must be reduced.
- Before compatible smoothing and levelling compounds.
- Before compatible flooring adhesives and bonded floor coverings.
Application Guidance
- Ensure the substrate is sound, clean, absorbent and free from dust, loose material, paint, wax, oil, rust and other contaminants.
- Repair cracks using a suitable Mapei repair product before applying Mapeproof Primer.
- Mechanically prepare dense, smooth or compact substrates where necessary to create a suitable surface.
- Shake or thoroughly mix the container immediately before application.
- Apply the first undiluted coat evenly in one direction using a suitable roller.
- Allow the first coat to become touch dry, normally after approximately 15–30 minutes.
- Apply the second coat at right angles to the first coat to achieve consistent coverage.
- Check that the finished coating is continuous and free from pinholes, weak spots and untreated areas.
- Apply the compatible flooring adhesive or smoothing compound after approximately 2–5 hours and within a maximum of 12 hours.
Important Information
- Suitable for internal floor applications only.
- Do not use on substrates affected by continuous rising damp.
- Ground-bearing concrete and screeds must contain an effective structural damp-proof membrane.
- Do not apply over anhydrite, gypsum or other calcium-sulphate-based substrates.
- Do not bridge structural or movement joints with the primer.
- Drying times may vary according to temperature, ventilation, humidity and substrate absorbency.
- Confirm suitability and permitted moisture levels for heated screeds using the latest Mapei technical data sheet.
Professional-use product: Always assess the substrate, measure the residual moisture level and follow the latest Mapei technical data sheet and safety data sheet before application. Coverage and drying times are approximate and may vary depending on site conditions.
