Mapei UltraCare Keranet
UltraCare Keranet is a concentrated, acid-based professional cleaner designed to remove cementitious residues after tiling and grouting. It’s ideal for restoring a clean finish on acid-resistant surfaces—without attacking the cement grout joint when used correctly.
Best for: post-installation cleanup, removing cement haze/residue, salt & limescale efflorescence, and rust staining on suitable (acid-resistant) surfaces.
Why it works
- Removes cementitious grout/adhesive residues and concrete staining from compatible surfaces.
- Helps lift limescale, rust stains and efflorescence (white salt deposits).
- High yield: dilute to suit the residue level (typical dilutions 1:10 or 1:5).
- Suitable for internal and external use, including façades (on acid-resistant materials).
Where to use
Suitable surfaces (acid-resistant)
- Porcelain tiles
- Ceramic tiles
- Glass mosaics
- Quarry tiles & terracotta (pre-wet absorbent surfaces first)
- Acid-resistant natural stone (always test first)
Do not use on
- Polished marble or calcareous stone (limestone-based materials)
- Limestone-based materials or cementitious terrazzo tiles
- Ceramic tiles / enamelled baths with non-acid-resistant enamel
How to use
-
1) Check compatibility
Ensure the surface is acid-resistant. If unsure, carry out a small test area first (especially on stone and glazes).
-
2) Dilute to suit the residue
Typical dilution ratios are 1:10 (lighter residue) or 1:5 (heavier residue) by weight. On specific residues (e.g., engobbio on porcelain/ceramic), it may be used undiluted where appropriate—always test first.
-
3) Pre-wet absorbent materials
For porous/absorbent surfaces (e.g., terracotta, porous ceramics, some stone), thoroughly moisten the surface with clean water before application.
-
4) Apply, allow contact time, agitate
Apply in manageable areas, leave for around 5 minutes, then agitate with a suitable pad/brush or single-disc machine where appropriate.
-
5) Remove solution and rinse thoroughly
Remove the dirty solution and rinse with plenty of clean water. For heavier residues, repeat the process. Do not leave the product on grout joints for too long—rinse thoroughly to avoid potential colour variation over time.
-
Timing note
Use only on completely cured cement grout (typically 1–10 days, depending on the grout type and site conditions).
PPE: wear suitable gloves and eye protection, avoid splashes, and use in well-ventilated areas.
